1. Product and publisher information

Absolute Teleprompter is a locally operated productivity application. Its Android version provides a floating teleprompter overlay with vertical and horizontal scrolling, adjustable reading speed and text size, top or centre reading focus, text highlighting, mirror mode and an adjustable reading-window height for use with camera and recording applications.

These terms apply to official versions distributed by Makershift LLP through Google Play, the Apple App Store, absoluteteleprompter.com or another channel expressly authorised by Makershift LLP.

2. Operational behaviour

• The Android application displays the teleprompter as a floating overlay instead of maintaining a conventional full-screen application window.
• Script text, reading preferences and window settings are stored locally on the user's device.
• A foreground service keeps the user-requested overlay available while another application, such as a camera application, is active.
• An ongoing Android notification identifies the active foreground service.
• No account, registration or internet connection is required for the current core teleprompter functionality.
• Closing the floating window stops the teleprompter service.
• Features may differ by operating system because Android and Apple platforms provide different overlay capabilities.

3. Permissions and device access

Display over other apps: Required on Android to display the teleprompter over a camera, video-recording or other application. The floating window cannot operate when this permission is denied or revoked.

Foreground service: Keeps the user-controlled overlay visible and operating while another application is in the foreground.

Foreground-service special use: Identifies the teleprompter overlay use case to Android where required by the operating system.

Notifications: Used for the active foreground-service notification. Behaviour depends on the Android version and the user's notification settings.

Clipboard: Accessed only when the user explicitly selects a paste operation within the application.

Camera and microphone: Not required by the current Android application. Recording is performed by a separate application selected by the user.

4. Minimum requirements and compatibility

Minimum Android version: Android 8.0 (API level 26) or newer for the current Android build.

Required Android permission: The user must grant “Display over other apps” permission.

Supported devices: Android phones and tablets that support application overlays and the required foreground-service behaviour.

Orientations: The overlay supports portrait and landscape operation and generally follows the orientation of the application or screen beneath it.

Connectivity: An internet connection is not required for core operation after installation.

Apple platforms: Availability, operating-system requirements and feature behaviour for any Apple-platform release will be stated on its applicable App Store page. Android-style system-wide overlay behaviour may be unavailable because platform capabilities differ.

5. Compatibility and functional limitations

• The floating window cannot operate when “Display over other apps” permission is denied, revoked or restricted by a device administrator, parental-control service or manufacturer security setting.
• Android and other applications may block overlays on payment, banking, password, authentication, permission or other security-sensitive screens.
• Some manufacturers require additional permission for floating windows, background activity, auto-start or battery usage. Names and locations of these settings vary.
• The overlay normally follows the orientation allowed by the application underneath it. An underlying application locked to one orientation may prevent rotation.
• Notification visibility and foreground-service behaviour vary by Android version and user settings.
• Foldable displays, cover screens, desktop-style windows, extreme display scaling and manufacturer-specific multi-window modes may reduce available reading or footer space.
• Compatibility with every camera, recording, accessibility, screen-capture or security application is not guaranteed.
• Mirrored presentation is intended for compatible teleprompter glass. Editing is intentionally disabled while mirror mode is active.
• Users should test overlay placement, text size, speed, focus and orientation before an important recording.

6. Terms of Use

6.1 Acceptance

By downloading, installing or using Absolute Teleprompter, the user agrees to these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and applicable distribution-platform terms. A person who cannot legally accept these terms may use the application only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.

6.2 Permitted use

The application may be used for lawful personal, educational, professional and commercial teleprompting. Users remain responsible for their scripts, recordings, releases, notices and compliance with privacy, copyright, broadcasting, employment and other applicable laws.

6.3 Prohibited use

The application must not be used to violate law, infringe another person's rights, obtain unauthorised access, interfere with device or platform security, distribute malicious modifications, misrepresent an official Makershift LLP release or create an unreasonable risk to another person.

6.4 User content

Users retain their rights in scripts and other content they enter. Makershift LLP does not claim ownership of user scripts. Users are responsible for ensuring that they have all rights and permissions required to use, display, record and publish their content.

6.5 Updates and availability

Makershift LLP may add, modify, restrict, suspend or discontinue features, compatibility, distribution or support. Updates may be required for continued compatibility or security. No specific feature, device compatibility, update schedule or support period is guaranteed unless expressly agreed in writing.

7. Proprietary software licence

Ownership: Absolute Teleprompter is proprietary software. Copyright © 2026 Makershift LLP. All rights reserved.

Licence grant: Subject to these terms, Makershift LLP grants the user a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable licence to install and use an official compiled copy of Absolute Teleprompter on devices controlled by the user for lawful teleprompting purposes.

Restrictions: Except where expressly permitted by applicable law or a written agreement with Makershift LLP, the user may not copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, lease, repackage or create an unauthorised derivative distribution of the application; remove ownership notices; extract or publish proprietary source code; reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the application; bypass platform or application security; misuse signing credentials; or use the names, logo, icons or trademarks of Absolute Teleprompter or Makershift LLP in a manner suggesting endorsement or origin.

No source-code licence: Distribution of the application free of charge does not make it open source and does not grant access to or rights in its proprietary source code.

Termination: This licence terminates automatically if the user materially violates it. Following termination, the user must stop using and remove the application, subject to any mandatory legal rights.

8. Application-store terms

Google Play: An Android copy obtained through Google Play is also subject to applicable Google Play terms and policies. Google Play acts as a distribution platform and does not assume Makershift LLP's product-support obligations.

Apple App Store: If Absolute Teleprompter is distributed through the Apple App Store, Apple's applicable Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies unless a valid custom end-user licence agreement is provided through App Store Connect. Apple is not responsible for application maintenance or support except where required by platform terms or law.

Store services: Google, Apple and other distributors may independently process account, purchase, installation, diagnostic or store-usage information under their own terms and privacy policies. Makershift LLP does not control those independent practices.

9. Intellectual property and branding

Absolute Teleprompter, its proprietary source code, official compiled packages, original documentation, website content, signing keys, store listing, logo, icons and other original brand assets are owned by or licensed to Makershift LLP.

The names Absolute Teleprompter and Makershift LLP, together with associated logos and visual identity, may not be used in a manner that implies sponsorship, affiliation, endorsement or an official release without prior written permission. No trademark rights are granted except lawful descriptive or nominative use.

10. Third-party components and notices

The application uses Android operating-system APIs and may include third-party components or assets governed by their own copyright notices and licence terms. Those licences apply only to the relevant third-party material and do not make Absolute Teleprompter's proprietary source code open source.

Required third-party copyright and attribution notices must be preserved and made available with the applicable release. Makershift LLP does not claim ownership of third-party material.

11. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Absolute Teleprompter is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Makershift LLP does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, compatibility with every device or third-party application, preservation of recordings or scripts, or that the application will satisfy every user's requirements. Mandatory warranties and consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Makershift LLP and its partners, personnel and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive loss arising from use of or inability to use the application, including loss of recordings, content, data, revenue, opportunity or reputation. Liability is not excluded or limited where doing so is prohibited by applicable law.

13. User responsibility and indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the user is responsible for claims, losses or liabilities arising from unlawful content, recording activity, infringement of another person's rights or a material violation of these terms. This provision does not reduce mandatory consumer protections.

14. Governing law and disputes

Subject to mandatory consumer-protection and application-store terms applicable in the user's jurisdiction, these terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts having competent jurisdiction at the registered location of Makershift LLP will have jurisdiction. Before starting formal proceedings, users are encouraged to contact Makershift LLP so that the matter can be reviewed and, where possible, resolved informally.

15. Changes to this document

This document may be updated when features, permissions, dependencies, distribution methods, commercial arrangements or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date identifies the current version. Material changes will be made available through the application, official website, store listing or another reasonable channel.
